Regina Spektor – The Call lyrics
It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
When you call me

No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never
Been this way before

All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
Til they're before your eyes

You'll come back
When they call you

No need to say good bye

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say good bye
×

The reason I love this song so much is that it fits so many situations, and therefore it really is written specifically for each person that listens to it. This song perfectly describes two people in love who have to be apart for a while - just as perfectly as it describes soldiers going and coming back from war. It tells of 18 year-olds leaving for university and everyone who has to start a new life. It is about religion and never giving up on your beliefs. It is about four children who have to leave the magical world they love so much.
It is a song about beginnings and ending, about change, friendship, hope and love, about belief, goodbyes, hellos, tragedy, joy.
It is a song about life. And it is beautiful.

This song is about a war and the girl is waiting for the guy to call her back and she say no need to say goodbye because they will met again
now they back to the begining its just a feeling that no one knows yet but just because they can't feel it doesn't mean that guy have to forget
and she said pick a star on the dark horizon and just follow it. This song is very nice and very amazing. But no one knows yet but doesn't mean we all must forget it.

My Father just passed away two months ago. It is really hard for me to talk about it. But, I feel as though I connect with him through this song. Me and my Dad always shared the love of Narnia, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. I did not really want to see Prince Caspian because it reminded me of him to much. I was really glad that I saw it. This gives me hope that even though he is not here in person he is in spirit and can still help and guide me throughout my life.

This is the greatest song I have ever heard. At the end of this movie, Lucie turned her head back to look for Narnia for the last time, but it's not there any more. The song is so suitable for this movie, especially for this sense. When the time is came, we should know that "which has it's beginning will all go to it's end." Their destiny is done and nothing left. The friends are still there, their dreaming world are still there, but those are not belonged to them in this time.

Theodorrah anis. I hated it when susan needed to leave prince caspian. To make it worse the song was played at the background, although I think that the song realy match the movie. When I watch the movie the first thing in my mind was the to find the song and download it no matter what, because it really touch my heart. I, v always wanted to watch the movie, every time it came on, I have to watch it even though I, v watch it like a hundreds of times it, s tills touch my heart very singal time I watch it. What I really like about the movie was that the they have cross over to nania and found some of their old cloths, and then fight the battel win and come back. I wich that susan and her brother would come and see prince caspian again that would be so good because we'll know what will happen to prince caspian and when susan.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 8 months. My parents now want me to break up with him. After he and I have fallen madly in love. So I have one year until I am eighteen. Until then he and I must be apart. I am waiting till the day I can embrace him again and he can be mine. He'll come back when I call him, he gave me this song to remind me of that, when I had never heard it. I love my man and I'm sure regina loves hers.

I think this beautiful song has many meanings. In the movie, I think it refers to Aslan, who is always the Savior of the movie. If you read about C. S. Lewis, he was first an atheist in his earlier years. He later became a very devout Christian. The Narnia books have many parallels with Christ. Aslan is Christ-like, in that he is a Savior. Lucy believes in him the most and is very faithful. Aslan asks her why she listened to the others instead of following her beliefs in "Prince Caspian". This song can apply to Aslan/faith in God. Listen to the song and watch the movie with this in mind and you will see how C. S. Lewis applies his beliefs to the stories. I think the song talks about both Aslan/Christ coming back when you call Him, as well as you going back/following your belief in God.

It does remind me of the movie prince caspian which itself means so much. The movie was great, but an even better feeling was the confidence that I live that fantasy-of living the challenge and adventure of accepting jesus christ as my lord and savior
of denying what I may want or what I think in right-and seeking god.
Similar to how peter trusts himself with his flawed motives and fails, when aslan was there all along waiting to be sought for help. And help them he did.
God loves us so much that he sent his only son to die on a cross to take the punishment for all of humanity's wrong-doings so that we may live with god in heaven forever. If you only believe that jesus has died for you sins and ask for forgiveness he will forgive you.
    I'm praying for you.

I wrote a very much similar poem like this, starting with the same 3 lines. It looks like a remake, every one said like that. But believe me its not a remake. I wrote it even before I heard this poem,:-
It started out as a feeling.
Which then turned into a quite word.
And then the word b'came louder and louder,.
Until it was a never-ending praise.
When you hear this, u'll apologise;.
    No need to show-off urslf.
    Just b'cause some1 is impressed.
Doesn't mean that u'll never lose.
And all this depends on the moment when.
There are 2 diff paths 4 you to choose.
Let this song grow louder and louder.
Until it is heard by ur ears.
You'll apologise, when you hear this;.
No need to shed ur tears.
    This is the song.
    Hope some one like it.
If yes then thumbs up pls.

It ias about two people parting in their separate ways and that even though they will be away from eachother for a long time, they will see eachother again. The two people have to remember what they had together and not to forget what they had and will still have when they are reunited. Even though it will be dark and lonely without eachother, the two people will find the light when they return.

It means that even if you do have to leave, and never come back, you will never ever have to forget the memeries you made there with family and friends. It means that when you love someone or something and they pass away or you never get it to see it ever again, you can always remember it in your heart and you should keep those memeries alive and never forget them. The call is about quiet, delicate love that you can let your full emotions out on the love, and it will not break, still as tender as it was before. It's kind-of like the time my cousin died of a brain toomer, age 7(i was 5) and the time my grandpa died of a stroke, age 73(i was 9). It also reminds me of my relationships to my family and friends. A very touching song. I adore and recomend it!

To me it means the ending to the chronicles of narnia: prince caspian and me never being able to see anna popplewell. Gosh she's beautiful. Makes me upset but like so many before me have written, it's about never giving up hope.
It also means that because the pevensies have to return to their world they'll always come back. Lucy and edmund do in the voyage of the dawn treader. Susan still thinks about narnia, and writes about it in her letter from america to edmund and lucy at the beginning. But let's face it, narnia never really left them. It's still there inside their thoughts. C. S. Lewis once said that he wrote books that generations to come would love. He wrote books for all ages. But also, he wrote books the he loved because nobody else could write them for him.

For me, this song is about growing up. I'm almost 19, and entering a very tumultuous time of my life as I fight between staying young and becoming an adult. As a child I was very imaginative and enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia very much. Then, and even now, I sometimes had trouble with the line between reality and the things I imagined to be true. This song reassures me that just because I'm growing older doesn't mean that I have to leave the happiness of childhood behind. I can come back whenever I want.

This song to me represents how relationships grown, change, and sometimes are broken. I had these friends who really hurt me, and this song inspired me to move on. "All you can do is try to know Who your friends are.
As you head off to the war" I also have liked this one guy for such a long time, and he's my best friend who always supports me. To me, this song brings courage that my feelings matter and are real, even if others don't approve. The lyrics "It's just a feeling and no one knows yet But just because they can't feel it too.
Doesn't mean that you have to forget" Tell me that its okay to feel this way and that my feelings are my own and nobody else's to judge.

I like this song because it kind of describes my feelings right now. The whole "back to the beginning" really makes me think of a recent event that meant that I had to try to make new friends because I moved away. Also the song suits Undertale, don't question it, it really does.

To me, it begins with people who love each other. First saying: I love you. (turned into a quiet thought and then into a quiet word). But then as the relationship grew, those words became hurtful (battle cry). They break up and the person who is speaking, is saying they will come back always to their partner's call. They are depressed and just want their loved one back. Things start to change and go back to the old times when their mate was not there (just because everything's changing doesn't mean it's never been this way before). You try to find happiness and hope in the new, sorrowful life (pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light). The person is still hopeful their love will return one day saying 'you'll come back, when it's over, no need to say goodbye'. They start to fall in love again. And knew that they were meant to be (now we're back to the beginning). No one knows around them how they feel and that each day their love is growing for one another. The memories grow inside again and unite the two- remembering what they had (let your memories grow stronger and stronger).

The call makes me feel that relationship I have wiht my bro and sis. It is full of passion, and is a emotional song that is filled wih meaning. Lol it kind of makes you think about what it feels to leave something that you love very much. Lucy loved narnia (the show is where I first heard the call) and so did her siblings. She didn't want to go bakc to narnia without peter and susan. But she did want to go back to aslan. Great song! Thanks sooo much! Regina shold make more songs like the call! :)

    1. I find this song means something so little can grow so big but don't forget becauce it's special.
    2. About a war or when somthing feels like a war, when two or more people are seperated and a feeling becomes much more. Then you are battling the saddness. Know every things changeing but it has happened before all you can do is know who your friends are and who your enimies as you head off to the dreded thing. Know there is always hope amounst all the bad luck. Keep going because you'll come out ok. It's like you've just seen the future but don't forget just know it's coming. Remeber and remeber it until it's like your reliving that moment.

A song which will pull at the heart strings of many people for a variety of reasons. Everytime I hear it I think of my two young daughters eventually leaving myself and my beautiful wife to live there own lives-i think, like all young adults should, they'll become enraptured by lifes ups and downs and they'll go through periods where we are the last people on there minds, but there won't be a moment when they are not at the forefront of ours.

Its somehow pointing into "LOVE". I mean it start small but then it will soon sprout into something beautiful and big. Changes might occur,. Goodbyes and other inevitable and unpleasant things might go in the way but love will always prevail and will never ever fail. Just call and I'll be there!. A romantic song. It indeed got my attention the first time I heard it at the end of narnia. Its so touching and I don't think I can ever put into words what the song really made me felt. It was truly exceptional!. Thumbs Up!

Though the cut-off romance of Susan and Prince Caspian are the visual focus when The Call begins… and though it was sad to leave Narnia… neither provides the full meaning of the song. The Call reflects the heart of the movie, which is portrayed in the growing love and trust between Lucy and Aslan (Jesus). Lucy's desire to be able to depend on and be loved by Aslan grew through uncertainties, but became her (and others) strongest hope - their "battle cry." The movie nearly ends with a gaze between Lucy and Aslan. Would he be with her in the "real world"? The song reflects their conversation. Know who your friends are as you go to war… this means trust in difficult times. When you are tempted to write off Jesus as absent and uncaring, remember the past times he came through and keep those thoughts before your eyes. Though he seems distant, he will be there. "No need to say goodbye."

I don't really know what to say, other than how perfect this song seems to me right now. I live in the eastern United states, and I'm probably going to China over the entire summer. It's my first time leaving the country, so I've been extremely worried, and one of the things I've been most concerned about is leaving behind the boyfriend I'm not supposed to have. Neither of our parents know that we're dating, nor can they ever find out, but I don't know what I'd do if something happened between us. He brings the little bit of happiness I have into my life. I talked to him about it a few days ago, and he said it was ok, told me he understood why I was going, and that it was alright. So. Yeah. Right now, every time I hear this song, that's what I'm thinking of.

Well, personally I think this song speaks to many peopleout there who are having a though time forgeting someone. I know that when I heared this song it kind of let me let go of some of my past. I guess I just needed a good pep talk, and this song is definatly it. I guess life just haas times were you need someone or something to help you get through thoughs times. I just can't really explain the message this song gives out but to me, it says, life is just one big book in a way, but it's up to you to write the story.

This song reminds me of my dad, he passed away this past May. The meaning for me is deeper in the sense that I feel that he is not completely gone and that he will always be here spiritually when I think of him or need him and that I will see him again. In the mean time, I will have his memories and the life lessons he taught me that will keep me going. R.I.P. Dad, I love you.

This song reminds me that even though things seem so unbearibly sad at the time it will all be ok. Narnia makes me want to ball my eyes out so much yet for some odd reason I couldn't because I knew everything was a happy ending for the most part. It's a lovely song and I do cry from it sometimes. Remembering bad thigs that have happened but I will also feel alone yet not cry because i'll be ok. I Love This Song and Narnia.

    V. V this song reminds me of a guy. He's older then me and graduating high school before but I hope to see him after I grad too. The beginning reminds me how I've fallen in love with him, I love him and hope he loves me back. I want to confess but theres so many complications. And maybe when we meet up again in the future ill fall in love again. And I really hope he doesn't forget me, that's my biggest fear. I hope he'll know someday, I love him.

I moved to México about three months ago. Yes I wanted to move no one forced me to do it, but I still had to leave my friends and my sister and I wished I hadn't moved so far away. But than this song came along and I realized that I don't need to say bye nor do I have to feel sad or scared cause they'll always be there and I will one day go back.

This song reminds me of a new friendship that change my life. This friendship that I treasured a lot. Cherish so much. Dedicated most of my time to it. Was just neglected. And then, the friend that I thought was my best friend didn't view it that way. He didn't nurture the friendship the way I nurtured it. Hehe. Its hard to leave him. But I think he'll just realize that somehow it's worth having for. Somehow the friendship is important. I don't need to say goodbye for leaving him because i'll just come back. That is when he realize that I'm also one of the important part of his life though my role is just a simple friend.

I have been deeply moved by this song, brought tears to my eyes…my grandmother just died after a long and painful suffering and listening to this song with my mum made me realise that wherever she is, she will be ok and that she is happy. We need to stick together, if not for anything else, for her, and that we have to stay stronger and keep each other together. I know that she is watching over me and one day, I hope that ill see her again. This is one of the most meaningful and emotional songs I have heard of - thankyou regina, ill remember this song forever.

I love regina spektor as well as her bloody awsome songs. She's a sheer genius. An agent of art.
The Song's meaning is much deeper and unbelievable than we think. It's not we commonly think. It is further more important.
Generally, the song was based on the movie, Narnia on where on the near end, when the kids were leaving narnia it was hard for prince caspian. Because he knew that they wont come back so, the song entered.
The movie was based on the book, and the book was based on something much important. I swear.
I love the movie by the way.
    Lamentingly beautiful.
I love the song! I got the last music syndrome on that.

No matter where you go, you will always end up back to where you wanted to be. Things are changing but its been this way before. You just have to keep your friends close as you leave. Choose where you want to be then go. Youll come back when you know its the right time. You want to come back and you know it but nobody else does, doesn't mean you let it go. Keep your memories close intill you can have them again. Youll come back when you feel your ready to. You don't have to say goodbye to me.

To all the ignoramuses who think this song is about the narnia movie: you people need to do your research. Yes, this song is in the movie and is also on the soundtrack, but regina spektor didn't write this song specifically for this movie. She just wrote an awesome song (because she's a musician, that's what she does.). The music producers of this movie heard it and decided, "hey, that's a great song. We should put it in this movie," and that's how "the call" was put into the narnia movie. Any sort of metaphors about aslan/jesus and the characters of this film that you're interpreting are due to your ignorance, and far from the song writer's original meaning/intent for the song. Douchebags.

This song reminds me of everyone I cared about who died. Yet I do not shed a single tear. I'm not sad. I don't wish I had said "goodbye" because I will see them again when I am called into death. Of course I miss the moments, and I don't like these empty patches, but I don't miss him. Because one day, I will once again, be able to fill the empty patches with him.

Ok so this is what the song means to me:
in the begining it is saying that she started out feeling love then she started out knowing and hopeing he loves her back. At 1st it was quit and known to her. Now it is a word. Love.
The word love started getting a stronger and stronger meaning as she was experiencing it.
Then she is saying ik we will get back together. You just say when, and I'm there for ya baby.
Hen she is saying with us changing(people knowing) it doesn't mean we can still love eachother and now it doesn't have to b ruined just cuz people know.
Then try to get thu it and love me as much as I will love you.
