    There are many ways to interperate this song but I like my way becuase it relates to my life.
    She is deeply in love with a man, a mean she is in a relationship with. The man does not love her, and this kills her. He is everything to her which explains(you are the hole in my head, you are the space in my bed. Ect). (no light, no light in your bright blue eyes) means that she sees in his eyes that he dosn't love her. (you can choose what stays and what fades away) means he if anyone ended the relationship it would be him, becuase she is too in love and doesn't have the will to leave him even though she knows he doesn't love her and shes scared he is going to end it. (and i'll do anything to make you stay), this line speaks for itself. (tell me what you want me to say) this means she is desperate and wants to know if there is anything she can do to make him love her. (you want a revelation, you want to get it right but, it's a conversation, I just can't have tonight, you want a revelation, some kind of resolution) this whole verse is basicly saying the guy knows the relationship isn't working, they oveously have different feelings and he needs to end it becuase its unhealthy and not fair to her, breaking up is the only right option, but breaking up would destroy her, she knows it has to happen but she is not ready to face it, she loves him too much and the pain would be unbarable.
    This interpertaion relates to a past relationship of mine almost exactly. This song help me get through a really bad break up, listening to this song made me feel like florence was the only person who understood what I was going through.

    I agree with the previous post about the man she loves finding out about her affair. She loves him and her mistake has or may have cost her his love. The conversations they have about the affair are too much to handle and she can't bear to tell him things that will hurt him.
    I think several of the songs on her previous album (lungs) are about an affair. And I think several of the songs on this album are about the aftermath of the affair. Life after the affair.

    She is tired of everything. He is cold. Distant. There is no light in his eyes. She wants to leave him and yet to stay cause she loves him. "you want a revelation, some kind of resolution.
    You want to get it right". He wants to change 'what she become' and she is in video running from her bad romance cause he tries to change her. And finally she is saved by heaven. She made a choice. She leaved him cause he cannot choose what stays or fades away.

    It s a song about a relantion about to sink. Their relation has problem, problems caused by her. She loves him to much and that leads to a sort of insecurity wich causes her to do some unforgiveble acts. She is afraid he might leave her, and tries to do anything to keep him by her side. It s all from her point of view. Things have changed betwen them and she tries to make them. He sees the change and tries to understander her. That s way he seeks for a revelation, and tries to make things right in his own way.

    This song is simple, but complicated.
    In this song it's obvious that florence has been left by somone and wants then back, but this is not her pleadeing to him, but to the crowd, as it says "it's so easy to sing it to a crowd, but it's so hard my love to say it to you alloud", so it's her way of cleansing herself of her faults, to the crowd.

    I believe the song to be about a friendship of two people. The guy has loved this girl for many years but hasn't asked her out. He's done everything she has ever asked yet she won't go out with him, she tells him he is just a friend but after so many years she has gone through 20+ guys and the only guy left was her friend from so long ago but he has moved on. He was finally done waiting for her and what spark he had for her is gone and there is nothing she can say that will bring it back.
    The conversation is both from her and him. He doesn't want to have the conversation with her because hes through, but she begs him to talk to her.
    O, and the line "you can't choose what stays and what fades away" is talking to the audience basically saying becareful because someone you wouldn't consider as a husband or wife could really be and you don't know it until its too late.

    I think its about a girl who lost the love of her life because she's afraid of loving, but must keep on living her life. "you want a revelation, you want to get it right" get it right being their relationship, "but thats a conversation, i just cant have tonight" her being afraid, not wanting to deal with it yet. "no light in your bright blue eyes" being her lovers pain for her not just accepting their love and being with him. "heaven help me, i need to make it right" being her wanting to make it right, but again she thinks against it.

    I honestly think this song is about an out-of-control, passionate, posessive obesession two lovers have for each other!
    "no light, no light in your bright blue eyes, i never knew daylight could be so violent. " I translate that as a predatory feeling. The girl is fearful of the dangerous boy, yet she can't break eye-contact with his mesmerisingly bright blue eyes.
    "a revelation in the light of day, you can't chose what stays and what fades away. " I translate that as the girl seeing herself change in one moment of touch or eye-contact with him. It drives her insane becuase he can't stay away. And that strangely satisfies her.
    "and i'd do anything to make you stay, no light, no light, tell me what you want me to say" I translate that as the girl pulling him closer, knowing the risks of such an isolating relationship only makes her want him more.
    I'm still not sure why I think that, but every time I hear no light, no light, I always think of some kind of insane love that people will never understand.

    Call me a conspiracy theorist, but after watching the music video, I really see so much imagery that suggests that florence has become part of a secret society controlled by the illuminati and regrets her decision. According to some, many famous artists join the ordo templi orientis (o. T. O) in order to gain fame. These members are subject to doing rituals that invoke demon/human hybrid spirits of fallen angels called nephilim (mentioned in the bible.) they want to be worshiped as they once were before the flood and work their magic in willing participants (others include michael jackson, the beatles, lady gaga, etc.) in the video, she begins by caressing a crystal scull. This mystical object has been connected to the anunnaki (a. K. A nephilim). Then the dark man controls her by a voodoo doll. She also is high up and then falls (like the fallen angels). Her falling through the church and her body being over the cross of christ shows how nephilim want to be worshiped like god. If I read this comment a few years ago I would have thought it was nuts, but check out "the truth behind hip hop" video series from ex ministries for an explanation and you can see that many of our famous stars are involved with this evil. It is sad because I don't think florence was involved until recently. She has talent far beyond her need to get involved with this crap.

    She feels she's changing as a person, as fame effects her and makes her lose who she is; 'in your place there were a thousand other faces/ I was disappearing in plain sight.
    'he' (I'm assuming it's a he) does not likeit and wants to talk about it, but she does not want to, and knows that she cannot stop her changing; 'you can't choose what stays and what fades away'. She'd prefer to just say anything she thinks he'll want to hear-anything to make him stay.

    Just a note: isn't the lyric "you can't choose what *stains* and what fades away", not "you can't choose what stays and what fades away"; and "when it's over, your start", not "when it's over, you will start"; and "it's so hard to say it to you, alooone"?
    I think the song is about a singer, and there's one face in her audience that she's in love with, but can't find the courage to say to him alone; she can only sing the truth to the whole audience. And in the light of day, she knows that he has no idea that the singer up on the stage is in love with *him*.

    A love has faded. People change. "if i told you what i've become" makes me think it's perhaps more than an affair, but perhaps a change in sexuality. Perhaps this was the result of a loveless relationship. You can't choose what fades away. Ever loved someone that doesn't return the love? You'd give anything to make them stay. But had you made love someone else that showed you the affection you so needed from your current relationship, you may find yourself the taker of that person's affections as a substitute. Substitution isn't a replacement. It's filling the hole. Everyone loses. Would you leave me, if I'd told you what I'd done?

    No light no light in the in the devil's eyes, he tempts me with hot passion with his distorted love that has cast a dark spell upon my heart, I love but I am torn between what is right and what is wrong, shall I fall as a fallen angel from heaven or shall I fall on my knees to god begging for help, for solace, for comfort, this evil man speaks an enchantment of spells that control my every move, his love is like sharp needles sticking me all over I cry for help, give me release from this bittersweet dark torment, this is what this song means to me for I was involved with a man in which I have had to escape from, his love bring hot passion to my body yet it leaves a dark shadow on my heart that insights violence in me, he is like a weed that has grown on my heart I shall pluck it out and live, again knowing that true love is never dark.

    A love song of a woman (florence) trying to "get it right" ie, turning the love she feels into something true, good and tangible; what she is feeling is too deep to express in mere words (see lyrics "... A conversation i just can't have tonight"). She states the "violence" that can be the feeling of "true" love (whatever that is, and I have felt it). The part where she asks if her lover would leave her if he knew what she'd done, and what she'd become is probably referring to the "mess" she has made of her life/herself since losing her lover. Basically, a story about trying to get a message across, and not knowing the right words to say c
