Black Sabbath – Spiral Architect lyrics
Sorcerers of madness
Selling me their time
Child of god sitting in the sun
Giving peace of mind
Fictional seduction
On a black snow sky
Sadness kills the superman
Even fathers cry

Of all the things I value most of all
I look inside myself and see my world
And know that it is good
You know that I should

Superstitious century
Didn't time go slow
Separating sanity
Watching children grow
Synchronated undertaker
Spiral skies
Silver ships on plasmic oceans
In disquise

Of all the things I value most in life
I see my memories and feel their warmth
And know that they are good
You know that I should

Watching eyes of celluloid
Tell you how to live
Metaphoric motor-replay
Give, give, give!
Laughter kissing love
Is showing me the way
Spiral city architect
I build, you pay

Of all the things I value most of all
I look upon my earth
And feel their warmth
And know that it is good
You know that I should

Perhaps my favorite Sabbath song. The lyrics are very ethereal and maybe even a tad bit haunting. Supposedly, the lyrics were loosely based on an astral projection episode of Geezer Butler. Lyrics pertaining to silver ships and spiral skies as well as the mention of a sychronated undertaker are all common verbeage for an astral experience wherein the person who is experiencing this magic is lead by an astral diety of some sort. The question of whether this episode was drug induced may be a possibility as all the members of the mighty Sabbath have admitted to experimental drug use during their formative years. Bottom line, this is a great song. Ozzie's voice is as pure as it ever was and certainly ever will be. To me, this tune brings solid epiphanic memories of Saturday night backyard headphone wearing cigar puffing technical ecstasy.

When I listen to this song, it reminds me of all the good memories in my life, memories of my youth, my family, the people I've known and loved, that everything in life has meaning, that we are here for a purpose, and that purpose is to help each other. That memories are precious, as precious as the ones we love, and when those loved ones die, memories are all that's left.

Wow. Not an easy thing to do. The complete work "sabbath bloody sabbath" is so very abstract to me. Ripping away the fictional aspects of society and blatantly forcing us to view the world in a realistic way that is hidden from us by sociiety. The song "spiral architect" I could say is a song looking within ourselves to see beyond ourselves and the earth around us and to look within and take a glipse of what could be "beyond us'? Just food for thought.
