Bill Gaither – Because He Lives lyrics
God sent His son, they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives
!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives
!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives
!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives
!

    I lost a friendly bet to my then pastor. I was so certain I was correct that if I lost the bet, I would sing a solo in church. Something I had never before done or even thought of doing. I lost the bet. I chose "Because He Lives" because it meant so much to me and I believed confidence would overcome fear. I am now in my mid-70's, and while I still shudder at my one and only public solo attempt many years ago, this song remains my all-time favorite and its message is still my rock! Merry Christmas, world!

    The first time I remember hearing this song was mother's day 1999. We were going to skip church that mother's day. You see, I was 8 months pregnant with my first son, who had passed away in my belly. I was going to deliver him that next day. My non christian husband bought me a mother's day corsage, and suggested we go to church that morning. Who am I to disagree, if he was taking the lead? They sang this son- so timely in my life. Our congregation encircled us and layed their hands on us to pray- it was the most amazing day of my life really. Something I will never forget.

    The year two thousand thirteen, was exactly ten years when God delivered me from evil and preserved me so that I escaped the death and was called. And he who called me Justified and sanctified me in his glory. Since I've accepted Jesus in my life, all fear is gone and I've dropped the past and focused on the kingdom of god, by filling the hole in my heart with treasures of heaven not the trash on earth. The old spirit of sin which was dead is rescued by the precious blood of the only son of God. I therefore have a new spirit of everlasting life through salvation. And because Christ goes before me in my life, there is no fear! And by his stripes am healed!

    As the next day has yet to arrive it is sometimes very hard to get past the night before, worrying and uncertain what the outcome will be tomorrow. But because he lives, tomorrow brings a new meaning because our living god, our lord has already paid the price for our ransom and we pray from victory not for victory. Remembering all his promises, I know that tomorrow will always be worth living because he lives. My lord is real and he is always with me in all my circumstances. Because he lives, I can trust that no matter what tomorrow brings, he is by my side watching over me and guiding me, and delivering me from any difficulties that may abound. Because he lives, I have faith to carry on.

    Back in the '70's and 80's when my life was falling apart, I was being verbally abused, told I was not worth anything, finding out my husband was gay, I knew I was better than that and God was still on the Throne. I heard this song and claimed it as my own and the words sustained me through each day. Because He Lives I can and did face the future. I have come through a better person than I even thought possible and God has supplied all I needs. I still weep when I sing this song and remember what God has done for me each and every day. He is Faithful!

    Because jesus lives, we don't need to fear and worry about the future. Our lord will never ever let us down. If he has given us his life, what else in this world can he not give us? Though we may be uncertain of what is going to happen in the future, we can be certain that jesus will always be there for us! He did not just die for us on the cross but he also rose up in his grave to show us that he is not a dead god, he is the god who lives forever and ever!

    I had been listening to this song on my phone but the words just an appealing deeper meaning this morning. My appeal court date for my immigration matter is in three weeks and since phones aren't allowed in court, I have just written down the song to sing it on my way to and back from court. It's my song of victory and thanksgiving for the success of my appeal. The song is comforting, assuring, reassuring and praising.

    This song has such meaning and depth to my personal life, there is not one day that goes by without thinking how great my god, our father in heaven above is. This song always humbles me and I know that we have a race that needs to be won. It always brings tears to my eyes. All because my savior lives and I know that I can face tomorrow because he lives ~ praise be to god almighty now and forever more!

    I slept with a very heavy heart the previous day thinking about the pain a friend and fellow chriatian is going through at the moment after her daughter has been missing for three weeks now. Only blood stains could be seen in her flat/house but there is no trace for her upto now. I begab to think about the pain the family was going through at this time and could not stand it. This led me to prayer. For some strange reason early this morning when I woke up, the chorus to this song was deeply etched and reverberating in my heart. I don't know what this means but am going to share it this evning when a group of friends meet in the house of this fellow sister who is undergoing a lot of pain and uncertainity.

    I woke up with these lyrics on my heart today! I am going through a time where I am not understanding alot. I have been afraid of the unfamiliar or the future. I am rethinking how I see God. It seems as if I haven't trusted Him with the llife He has given me. But after listening to this song I know now because of Jesus I have a reason to trust Him.

    No matter what I am facing in life its not too hard for god to handle. When jesus came to the earth and took on the form of man, he experienced all of the things we have to deal with daily. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and this allows us to make mistakes but have the grace of god to come out of sin and get ourselves right with god. When a child is born parents often worry about how tough life will be for the child but we have assurance through gods word that because jesus has already made a way for us, we can make it!
    One day this journey will end, we will have fought many spiritual and physical and mental battles but we look forward to the day we will be caught up to dwell with jesus in heaven.

    "This Child Can Face Uncertain Days Because He Lives" AMEN! Every child CAN face uncertain days! Even if you are an adult, you can face uncertain days because he lives! That entire paragraph is now stuck in my head. Every single, blessed, beautiful verse of that song is in my head! :D That touches me so much. Being a child of the King, this verse comes and whispers in my ear, because he lives, you can face tomorrow. God gave his only Son for us. The King loves us so much, He gave His son. And His Son rose from the dead. And because He lives, I can face tomorrow, You can face tomorrow, everyone can face tomorrow!

    When I was a teenager, I didn't think anybody loved me and wanted to die, even though I went to church- I didn't understand the love that heavenly father has for me. One day at church I listened to the words of this song during the altar call and realized that maybe I was missing something. Many times throughout my teenager years, I would read the words to this song and look towards my future.

    This is the most captivating song I have ever experienced. It is on my mind, when I go to bed, and it is on my mind when I first awaken. Throughout the day, I catch myself singing the one verse over the others. That one verse centers on the final war with pain, seeing the lights of glory, and knowing He reigns. Glory be to God in Heaven, His Son, our Creator, and to His Holy Spirit, Who accompanies us on our daily journey through this world. I know He will rescue us from this earthly existance and allow us to worship Him in our new home.

    I got so scared about the anomalies in my traveling documents that peace eluded me. Then in my sleep comes this song upon my heart, "because He lives I can face tomorrow." It did minister to me in a way like never before. Glory to God. It's a song I've always loved. This time it came to me in the most profound impact.

    It reminds me of days in a gospel quartet after going to a "praise gathering" in cincinnati. Meeting bill and gloria and my favorite composer, ron huff. The sheer joy of singin music in a mass choir of god loving musicians has stayed in my hear. I am 74 now and the quartet called ourselves "the praise gathering". My life has changed a lot, but the joy still remains. I just feel like somthing good is about to happen. Because he lives!

    The newborn baby verse is about the certain Hope we have in Jesus. Because Adam and Eve sinned, we were born with sin. God sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. Now parents can be assured that their babies have certain hope for heaven.

    The verse about crossing the river is passing from this life to death. For believers to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Christ defeated death. When Christians die, we live forever with Him because He defeated death.

    I feel the meaning to this song its personal; I believe that the song is saying that the meaning and the reason for us as children of god to live is because our saviour, jesus came and dies, saving us from eternal transgression and sin. I also believe that this song in its self is saying that we should live for god and his teachings and strive, hunger and yern for his word, which in turn is his love for us, I mean if, and when we sing this song it just gives us incouragement to go on and also preach and minister his word so that others may experince its love and be also filled with joy as we sing praises to him.

    A song that denotes great meaning. We sang this song this evening at our weekly lent gatherings at church (5 weeks of growing closer to jesus). It was the final song-carries significant meaning. This song brings tears of joy to my eyes and it has the same effect for my mother (she feels the spirit of our lord moving through her body), knowing that our lord lives within us. It is our duty as christians to trust in god, allow him to power and charge of our lives. We need to' roll back the stone' and bring forth all our hurt, resentment and significant pain that is hindering our spiritual progression in life. Know that our lord lives and he is with us now and always. God bless.

    You don't have to worry about the future as long as you keep the most important person in you heart and soul. Jesus christ comes in many shapes and forms depending on the eye of the beholder but everyone knows jesus christ can make every single day of your life easier to bear. That's why without him. I don't know how the rest of my life would've turned out. Thank you jesus and I'm glad you continue to live for me and my family.

    When I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis - an untreatable/incurable/rare lung disease it was devastating. Many nights I went to bed with the words to this song going through my mind. Eventaully I came to terms with the disease and have decided that the best way for me to deal with the disease is to help raise awareness so funds can be raised for research and help find a cure. I frequently tell people how much this song means to me!

    This was my dad's favorite hymn, sung at his funeral 11 years ago this month. We also sang it at my aunt's funeral just two months ago, and now we're preparing to sing it at my mom's memorial service on dec. 30. She was 97 and loved this song too. It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it (i play the YouTube version a lot). It truly is a song of faith and hope.

    This song raises me up when I am down, and lifts me even higher when days are good. The music and text inspires me to go on with joy in my heart. I have had the privilege to hold a newborn baby in by arms twice. Jesus himself was held in his mother's arms, and because he lived - and still lives - she too could face the uncertain days in her life, and so can we.

    Because our Heavenly Father gave us his son whose name is Jesus to heal, guide and give us life. He is our Saviour and for that we can face another day and have no fear of the unknown. He holds our future in His hands and He gives us choices and it's up to us to make right choices. I would not be able to go on with this life without Him in my life. But, knowing He is in my life I can face another day because Life is worth another day and through listening to the music it keeps me strong to take on another day. That is how good our God is. When your depressed or having a hard day "just remember Because He lives you can face tomorrow and all fear is gone". Always remember He loves us first.

    I'm 81 and needed to come live with my daughter and family because of low finances. I've been given a nice room with adjoining bath so I'm comfortable and am feed well. They are an admirable couple who have adopted 7 orphans, soon to be an 8th one from Ucraine. I confess the noise and mess are almost unbearable so I spend much of my time in my room studying the Word and writing in my prayer journal. From Psalms 11-12 I read this verse this morning: Your rule provides stability in the midst of Panic. But because we can trust You, Lord, we can face our problems. From then, my Spirit man started singing Bill's song, "Because He Lives". I'm a singer myself and have auditioned for AGT and was asking the Lord that they allow me to sing sacred music, which I have been singing solo in church since I was 6 years old. I ask Him recently why he had preserved the quality of my voice yet still and He answered, "For Others." My daughter set up this audition with AGT (she had seen where an 80 yr old British lady had won their golden buzzer and felt I was better than she. (daughters) So having been brought up with 40's music I love blues and big band and chose Eli's "My Man." and received nice remarks but have yet to know if I'm a contestant.
    My dilemma my son-in law doesn't respect me to correct the children and tonight, with my daughter away, he reprimanded me for correcting one of the children and sent me from the table. I came to my room, grabbed my journal and started to write but first decided to read what I had written this morning and there it was, the chorus to "Because He Lives." I picked up my computer and YouTubed the song, ended up spending the whole evening listing to one Gaither video after the other, praising My Lord for this test He leading me through. Time after time He's ask me to trust him which I do. He's the answer to all our needs and you can trust Him also.

    Because I know there is a wonderful loving God out there I can face the troubles that come my way. I know that my life will be far from empty of trials and pain, but because Jesus lives within me he will give me the strength to push through and stay strong. And when the trouble ceases you will still find me standing for the Lord keeps me upright. I don't need to worry about the future or rely on the past. Jesus will take care of everything. I just need to trust in him.

    I hope I'm not just preaching to the choir and that someone out there needed to hear this :)

    Quite simply, the song, "because he lives" is a sermon, and a beautiful sermon, set to music by individuals who independently allowed god to use them and their respective gifts, to collectively write one of the most beautiful songs ever written, for what could be more beautiful than the truths that we have a savior that can save us from all the wretchedness in this world, and that he is actively about doing just that. Because he lives, and awaits that glorious day when god the father say's, "it is time, go and get my children". The essence of the gospel is captured in this song.

    When my husband and I had just delivered another one of our five children, I remember my husband's parents being in our home that sunday. We sat down to have a time of worship and sang "because he lives". The verse about the baby. Saying he can face uncertain days because he lives, really ministered to mamaw and papaw, as they had been worried of how we would take care of so many children! We were in full-time ministry at the time and were "living by faith". This is a wonderful message to them that he will provide for us. We were all in tears. As his holy spirit conveyed this message.

    He doesn't have to promess me a thing, no Heaven, no Eternal Life, "no forgiving your sins" is necessary for me, I love Him the same. Just because He first loved me, and because he die for me, and for you and for all human kind. Jesus, you are my god and I am your servant, that's all. Do whatever you want to do with me, you are my Master and I know you are Holy. And without you life is not worth of living. Bless your name.

    The first time I heard this song was when the teachers of our school sang this for the farewell party of the students graduating the twelfth grade.." This child can face uncertain , days because he lives." How apt and meaningful the lyrics of the song was for the occasion.
    I believe this should be a prayer on every mother's lips ,as we look at life and it's uncertainties.
    Because he lives I have a calm assurance and all fear is gone of what the future holds.

    In 2010 I went to the hospital because of I had kidney stones the I could not pass and stayed in my right kidney. I was having routine surgery to have the stones removed. Before I went to surgery I needed to go to the bathroom 5 minutes later my temperature started going up to 106.8 F apparently the stones were blocking the kidney and I got septic to the point when I was able to have the surgery when my temperature went down to 103 F. My Urologist told me 2 weeks after in his office that he had called the ICU just to see if I was still alive. God put a song in my heart this morning, Because he lives we can face tomorrow. In 2016 after recovering from my 5th surgery I got Septic again and my Infection was severe and I was rushed to the hospital and the infection disease Doctor that I knew for many years told me that he was going to do everything he could to make me better in other words I could have Died. I thought of the song Because he live I can face tomorrow!

    I was looking around on my computer and this song came up (Because he lives) I found myself sitting at my computer crying like I have never done before. My wife came in thinking some thing was wrong and I played it for her and she could not stop listening also. I have always believed in Jesus and this song solidified that belief. Glory to God.

    I took communion and this song came to me right after taking it. I made so many mistakes in forgetting God that I wonder if I am truly going to be ready for God or if He will say depart from me. I hope not to forget God! I am unsure about my heart but God knows. For He is the reason I am still alive today. Maybe I need to change my reason for living or believe the future is bright with Jesus. Forgetting the past is so hard. I wasted years at times thinking I am right and I was not. God know the end of a thing so I hope I live making God happy the rest of my days!

    "an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives" This line is the ending of the first verse of that song.
    Christ died to defeat the power of sin and Rose from the Dead to guarantee our Eternal Life and victory over Death. Do you believe that Christ died and rose again? This song is NOT about God's foreknowledge, but rather about the risen Christ who has the keys of Death and of Hell, the Almighty One.
    It is not about feelings, though those will follow. It is about facts. Any spirit that does not acknowledge that Christ is come in the flesh is Not of God. Christ had to come to this earth, in the flesh, in order to be our sacrifice for sin. And He had to rise again to give us the power to defeat sin in our lives, and to bring us into God's family. God did know, and does know, the end from the beginning. But He knew that before Christ came, and That Knowledge Did Not Save Mankind. Christ had to fulfill Redemption's plan in order to save us.
    The meaning of this song cannot be: I can get through tough times because God knows all things. It must be that the Captain of our Salvation has faced Death, and conquered it!
