Adele – Hometown Glory lyrics
I've been walking
In the same way as I did
Missing out
The cracks in the pavement
And tutting my heel
And strutting my feet
"Is there anything
I can do for you dear?
Is there anyone I can call? "
"No and thank you, please Madam
I ain't lost, just wandering"

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh, the people I've met

Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

I like it in the city
When the air
Is so thick and opaque
I love to see everybody
In short skirts
Shorts and shades
I like it in the city
When two worlds collide
You get the people
And the government
Everybody taking
Different sides

Shows that
We ain't gonna stand shit
Shows
That we are united
Shows
That we ain't gonna take it
Shows
That we ain't gonna stand shit
Shows that we are united

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I've met

Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

She's made strong from the good and the bad. It's her home town there is where her memories are of who she was. The people there she as left behind. But it's still her home town a , duality.A place where maybe at times peace other excitement or confusion of yourh. A place that's with her no matter what has happened.

She's singing of the place she grew up in, the memories of hurt, but beauty, that has made her the strong person she became. Especially when she talks about the government and people taking different sides. It's her description of where her happiness starts, lies and waits for her to return. The people she grew up with are what made her who she is. Therefore that's why they are the wonders of her world and meaning.

I love adele, she's my role model, and inspiration. Aside from the smoking, which thankfully she quit just for us. I am her # 1 fan and I'm sure there are people who will argue that they are the biggest fan. I really don't care what they have to say because singing is the only thing I can do that makes me feel happy, and her music reminds me that there is still a reason for me to continue building my voice. I don't think she will ever come to where I live to perform a concert, which deeply saddens me, but when I am old enough to travel myself, I will most definitely find a way to meet her. I love her so much.

My immediate reaction was of this person returning to her hometown after 9/11, having lost childhood friends in the tragedy. (i know she is not an american. The story can be ficticious. Or she may know of a story about one of the scores of victims from other countries) I heard it first in june of this year, so it isn't the date now that affects my thinking. In the big city, it's easier to get caught up in the flurry of activity around you. But returning home. All your feelings are laid bare and resound, in the quiet around you.
