Demi Lovato Doesn't Know When To Shut Up

demi lovato ariana grande drama

I love Demi Lovato but unfortunately she doesn’t know when to shut up.

As you all know, the shocking terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande Manchester concert occurred on May 22. Several music stars quickly took to social media to show support to the victims’ families, and to Ariana Grande too. Demi Lovato was one of them. She sent out many beautiful messages. And then, Ariana’s team organized a benefit concert, one that will take place next Sunday, June 4th, also in Manchester, and which will feature performances from Ariana Grande, as the main star of course, and from other guests as well (Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, among others). Demi didn’t make it to the list (which was announced last night). And this caused quite a commotion in Demi’s fanbase. Several tweets and Instagram posts were sent out by Demi’s fans expressing how disappointed they felt by this “omission”. And Demi replied to one of them. She replied to an Instagram post her fan “whitivato” made with the curt message of "Cause I wasn't asked"..

Really, girl?

The backlash was immediate. Everybody felt like Demi didn’t need to say anything, for she would only cause more drama and start a silly “beef” between her fans and Ariana’s fans - something that would take away the focus, in some proportion (several blogs already writing about this), to what is important here: making the benefit concert a success and just support it however it was organized. But Demi’s reply indeed didn’t help at all. Social media drama ensued quickly and it was very upsetting to everybody.

Seeing the backlash, Demi posted on Instagram again to clarify her previous message.

Demi evidently felt like she had screwed up and she tried to fix it however she could. But I don’t think her clarification served for anything (how could she really think we would think she would say "NO" to a direct offer?. Plus, the fan's original IG post was a a question towards Ariana, not Demi. She didn't need to meddle, but meddle she did and not very brightly). If I were she, I would have ended it like: “Sorry if I made anyone feel uncomfortable or upset with my previous message. It doesn’t matter if I’m not there, what’s important is that all the proceeds will go to the victims’ families and I’m sure Ariana and the guests will make of the concert a huge success and a sincere tribute. Much love to everybody”.

Please Demi, really think of the possible consequences of your comments before making them. I know you have a good heart but this was a silly mistake.

Now please, just hurry up with your new single!

*UPDATE: Looks like Demi read our blog. Look at what she just posted on Instagram! She’s finally doing the things right!

We all need to do everything we can to support. Link in bio #OneLoveManchester

*UPDATE: "Non-invited" artist Demi Lovato ultimately appeared at the "One Love Manchester" benefit concert via video uttering a support message.

So do you see Demi? You were "asked" to do something in the end.
