Charli XCX is a rebellious yet popular girl at her high school. The British singer-songwriter just dropped on YouTube the music video for her new single (and "Boom Clap" follow-up) "Break the Rules". The new teenager/F-the system anthem is the newest single from Charli XCX’s (aka. the "Fancy" chorus singer, and the writer of Icona Pop's "I Love It") upcoming third studio album "Sucker" - in stores in the UK (US release to be announced soon) on October 20 via Asylum / Atlantic Records.

The catchy pop-punk number "Break the Rules" was world premiered exactly seven days ago, and it seems Charli XCX is in a hurry to promote her new music because the music video is out ALREADY. Directed by BRTHR and filmed in Los Angeles, the visual for "Break the Rules" will definitely draw comparisons to Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” music video where Charli XCX co-starred in. If Iggy had a high school theme, Charli has to have a high school theme too. Although, in Charli’s defence, the song lyrics just OBLIGE her to have a theme of this sort too.
It's a usual school day, and the yellow bus is picking up a group of girls to get them to their education center. However, leader of the pack Charli XCX and her clique manipulate the driver to take her to places where studying isn't required. A sexy lingerie shop for instance! Another day, it's prom night, and Charli and Co. wear the most awful dresses but still steal the show. In the end, they will all get involuntarily covered in disgusting pink slime, but instead of having it kill their mood, they embrace the moment, and love it.
