PELLEK LYRICS

1. Elucidation

A delicate wind graces my hair -
A shiver from the silent fear
One last breath for bravery...
Crystals of salt and sand inhaled as I embark on this journey.

This changes everything -
A whole new life, a whole new world!
Let's sail beyond the horizon -
There is so much more!

Let's begin...

I worked as I was told to
Catalogued the days
Certified events here
Permits and deeds they all came from me

I lived as I was told to
Counting off the days
Paid my bills on time here
Dared not to dream too much in my sleep

In my life
Never someone like her to understand me -
no hero to take her away from this place
She loved me as best she could and did not ask me why
I buried her and quietly filed her away

I did what I was told to
Heeded all the rules
Fell in line in place here
Watched what I said with nothing to say

I felt what I was told to
Turned the other way
Swallowed all my years here
Smiled through the days as my life slipped away

All my life
Never caring to see what's beyond me...
My heart is buried deep in the stone of this land
My daughter took good care and did not ask me why
She's with me now, to quietly sail me away

What is life?
Was I living a life of illusion?
With pencil and stamp I marked the lives lived before me
Old waters and mountains are new in this dying man's eyes
My daughter's in my heart and she will show me the way

2. Northern Wayfarer

Starting my new life, yeah!
Northern Wayfarer

Sailing nearby the coast, windy on the Barents Sea
What a sight - what a feeling - to be so free
The opulent snow banks on the dark green dying grass spots
Old settlements on the coast where our forefathers fought

Now my life begins on the open sea
I'm content for the first time
I know this is right and I'm ready

Northern Wayfarer!
Starting my new life
Northern Wayfarer!

Northern Wayfarer!
In my heart and in my head
Northern Way, Northern Way
Northern Wayfarer!

Passing and old stone chapel, we bid our Norway farewell
The Russian landscape unfolds, vigor burns in our souls
A burning sense of conceit - we have the world at our feet
The East Siberian Sea surrounding me

Starting my new life on the open sea!
I'm content for the first time
I know this is right and I'm ready

Northern Wayfarer!
Starting my new life
Northern Wayfarer!

Northern Wayfarer!
In my heart and in my head
Northern Way, Northern Way
Northern Wayfarer!

Starting my new life
Out on the sea
Out on the sea - the Northern Way

We carry out our destiny along the fjords courageously
In wind and rain on (the) Barents Sea, we know this is what we were born to be
Wild reindeer, bears, and mountain ox run by our side down by the docks
The Northern Wayfarer is in our hearts 'til the Dovre Mountains fall apart

Northern Wayfarer!
Starting my new life
Northern Wayfarer!

Northern Wayfarer!
In my heart and in my head
Northern Way, Northern Way
Northern Wayfarer!

In my heart a Northern wayfarer
Northern Wayfarer!

3. Sea Of Okhotsk

I thought we could rest for a while in this vibrant landscape
Just sleep a day or two, and fill the boat with fish and grapes.
I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate design
Of this perfect symmetric mountain reaching for the sky

But after only one night on the Atlasov Island
The mountain shows its true colors
This is no save haven.
The volcano's erupting, molten rocks shoot through the air
Don't know our destination but we must get out of here!

We're on the run!
Back to the stormy seas
We either stay and burn to death, or we sail and freeze!

We're on the run!
So far from home
If we die today, I pray our spirit will live on!

Ice floes quickly turned into a massive field of ice
Wanted to see the world and now we have to pay the price.
The octopuses in these waters swallow huge sharks whole
I'm not ready to die just yet... I must regain control!

Another ice-cold nightfall in my old brigantine
I'd give all memories years have piled to feel the suns warm gleam.
Soon this tiny wooden boat will be filled bot the brim
With coral, kelp, water and ice... and one too numb to swim!

We're on the run!
Back to the stormy seas
We either stay and burn to death, or we sail and freeze!

We're on the run!
So far from home
If we die today, I pray our spirit will live on!

I hear a roaring waterfall, and feel a surge of strength
I open up my eyes and see a city at arm's length
Buildings ten time taller that the mighty Norway spruce
Huge blinking billboards advertising silver Velcro shoes.

A garden square with majestic temples and tiny trees
A wise old man eating raw fish, drinking the strangest teas.
I step out of my boat and stagger towards this man
He's offering to share...
I think what is this strange new land?

4. Brigantine Of Tranquility

Brigantine of tranquility
Drifting east on the seven seas
Midway Islands' white fairy terns
I'm at peace, I have no concerns

Brigantine of tranquility
Drifting east on the seven seas
Midway Islands' white fairy terns
I'm at peace, I have no concerns

Forty-nine days on a brigantine
Forward I travel with the wind
Drifting east looking at the stars
Think of the things I've seen so far

Seven thousand miles from my home
I have sailed this far on my own
I see Midway Islands' white fairy terns
I'm at peace, I have no concerns

Brigantine of tranquility
Drifting east on the seven seas
Midway Islands' white fairy terns
I'm at peace, I have no concerns

Ninety days since I gave it a whirl
Unafraid, don't have a care in the world
Passing the Canadian blue lagoons
The entrance plays with the light from the moon

More than twelve thousand miles away
Where I'll end up next I really can't say
The crashing waves are captivating me
Stepping on land after a lifetime at sea in my...

Brigantine of tranquility
Drifting east on the seven seas
Midway Islands' white fairy terns
I'm at peace, I have no concerns

5. Gods Pocket

Good morning world – I have to say it's great to be alive!
The harbor seals and orca whales are swimming side by side.

The water's clear as crystal and the sun's just woken up –
An intertidal animal looks out behind a rock.

The ochre sea stars tanning in the radiant rays of light,
A black bear and a grizzly bear is crossing the divide.

I think I'll light a fire, ear some food take a swim –
Or maybe I'll just sit a little while and take the beauty in.

This majestic and magical place
Embracing me with beauty, this enchanting haze
Forever in God's Pocket, that's where I will be
When my soul departs from my body

The green and graceful junipers and tallest silver firs
Are looking down at me as I am digging through the earth.

Foraging for nuts and berries, wild mushrooms and roots,
Filing up my boat with the West's richest autumn food.

My journey now continues, I am half way around the world –
Looking back in awe, drifting down mighty blue rivers.

I'm not a navigator; I'm just sailing with the wind
And if the wind is on my side it'll take me here again.

This majestic and magical place
Embracing me with beauty, this enchanting haze
Forever in God's Pocket, that's where I will be
When my soul departs from my body

Drifting southeast, now along the coastline
We hear the civilized circus on port side.

A new chapter starts in a new land
But in my mind I'm still at the island.

This majestic and magical place
Embracing me with beauty, this enchanting haze
Forever in God's Pocket, that's where I will be
When my soul departs from my body

6. Stars And Bullet Holes

Along the west coast of a modern land,
I anchored my boat in the gloom...
Anxious, I walked up the steep rolling hills in the fog –
In the light of the moon.
Welcome travelers from Sacramento to San Francisco!

Passing by miners digging for gold and silver all through the night...
Fishermen, fishing for Dungeness crabs – or anything else that might bite.
One of the miners hands me a strange dark rock and says, "It's all right."

I turn around from this kind old man and notice a flame fierce and bright...
Standing, now on top of a hill my neck skin crawls and I feel a chill –
Cause at the docks my old brigantine's on fire and is sinking!
Is this the end?!
I wonder as I run – running faster than anyone!
No, I won't surrender – I'll never back down!
I'll find my own way in this prodigious town!

Nothing to rescue – it's far too late – I realize as I get close,
Stopping to catch my breath outside old Victorian homes.
I don't have a boat to sail with no more – I guess I just have to walk...
I'm heading south, crossing a giant bridge sturdy as a rock.
But at the docks my old brigantine's on fire and is sinking!

It's not the end!
Determined, as I stroll –
Head held high, I will never fall!
No, I won't surrender – I'll never back down!
I'll find my own way in this prodigious town!

I hear bullet shots and wild horses escape away from the mainland and into the lake...
And as I run towards an abandoned saloon,
I notice a graveyard for hot air balloons.

One has a wicker basket good as new –
Another an envelope with twigs sticking through.
A small sewing job now and this bag's complete –
The only thing lacking is a source of heat.

I check my pockets quietly, but all I have is that rock.
I smash it in anger – into the ground – and notice a small spark!
This isn't granite of a lump of coal but quite a magical stone...
Ascending towards the sky, I guess that old man was right all along.

Astounded, as I fly –
Looking down at the night sky!
I didn't surrender – I didn't back down!

No, this ain't the end!
Astounded, as I fly –
Looking down at the night sky!
I didn't surrender – I didn't back down!
In this prodigious town!

7. Sky Odyssey

What a strange and mystic feeling traveling up in the air
I see night turn into morning, the wind carries me somewhere
It's nicer in this wicker basket than I thought it'd be
Hands behind my head, legs up, the flames are warming me

Over open water, with the sun and the moon
That's me up in the air there in that hot air balloon
There's no way to reach me, I am so far away
Smiling as I pass by the mountains of Chile

After a day among the birds and clouds I start to think
I wish before I left I filled this basket to the brink
With food and water, maybe even a bottle of rum
But I can't be too bothered, I'm enjoying my freedom

Over open water, with the sun and the moon
That's me up in the air there in that hot air balloon
There's no way to reach me, I am so far away
I wonder where the winds is gonna take me today

I notice the ground down there is coming to an end
Soon there'll be just water, maybe I should descend

Over open water, with the sun and the moon
That's me up in the air there in that hot air balloon
There's no way to reach me, I am so far away
Slowly coming down... landing in Lapataia Bay

8. Transmigration

Filled my wicker basket to the brim with salt-spicy foods –I feel like a king
Because now, in a few thousand miles,
I've seen and done it all!

All thanks to my daughter who understood that treatment would do me no good
Now in less than a year I've been everywhere,
Mostly at sea and some in the air flying high!

From my cold Norway along the coast
Through Russian waters in my old boat
And we challenged the Sea of Okhotsk
Volcanoes and Japanese docks

Temples and a kind monk who shared his tea
With a freezing Norwegian from the sea

We crossed the Pacific in a brigantine,
Heard the island tern's soft scream
The lighthouse at God's Pocket, sea stars and seals –
Orca whales in the gleam

Shining down through junipers and silver firs,
I pulled our provisions right out of the earth
Through a modernized, scary dark place
I ran and I ran through fire and flames

And I rebuilt a worn out balloon,
Sailed in the air with the sun and the moon
Now I'm flying away, up, up and away

We crossed the Pacific in a brigantine,
Heard the island tern's soft scream
The lighthouse at God's Pocket, sea stars and seals –
Orca whales in the gleam

9. The Last Journey

I guess this the end...

I fear this darkness creeping up on me – a cold touch of death... of death...

I don't know what to make of this feeling – I want away!
I want away!
I'm not fading away... I'm being pulled towards something that I can't explain –
This isn't right

The darkness trying to swallow me...
I'm breaking, I'm breaking free
Free from myself, from the pain that I'm in –
But I'm still in this place, it's holding me tight...
Thinking of the highlights of my life

I feel like I'm floating...
Trying to find solid ground
What is this place!
Where am I?

Is that a light that I see?
Is that a light inviting me?
Do I step in... or do I stay?

...I can't stay here anymore...

Wake me up!
There's so much more to see

I fear this darkness creeping up on me – a cold touch of death... of death...

I don't know what to make of this feeling – I want away!
I want away!
I'm not fading away... I'm being pulled towards something that I can't explain –
This isn't right

The darkness trying to swallow me...
I'm breaking, I'm breaking free
Free from myself, from the pain that I'm in –
But I'm still in this place, it's holding me tight...
Thinking of the highlights of my life

I still feel like I'm floating...
Trying to find... something

It's hard to leave this crazy world...

Norway, Russia, Barents Sea, to Atlasov Island
Sea of Okhotsk, Philippines, Korea and Japan
Midway Islands, Canada, Mexico, U.S.A.
Belize, Nicaragua, Peru, Ecuador and Chile

I wish the gods had granted me just one more year
Cause I want to meet everyone and set foot everywhere!

Portugal, Spain, Belarus, Sahara, Ireland
Turkey, Syria, Oman, Tanzania, Kazakhstan
Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Greenland, Iceland and Guinea
The Baltic, Red, Dead, Pacific, North and Atlantic Sea

The world!
The world is an ocean of opportunity for me!

But it's too late for that...
I wonder where I am now...

In that universe is... someone... with me?
I'm still here...

I! I live in darkness!
Embraced by Death's cold touch!
Living in the past – but I know that there is much more than this!

Much more than this...

I'll stay right here
Waiting for something to come or take me away
I will keep trying to find my solid ground and leave

The darkness trying to swallow me...
I'm breaking, I'm breaking free
Free from myself, from the pain that I'm in –
And yeah I am still in this place trying to find my way...
Slowly consumed by the darkness

Oh...
This feels like the start of something horribly great!
