Straight outta high school.
Not just bend them rules.
Thought this town was too small
Took off on it one day through my old man′s field.
Pourin' concrete and steel.
Now every time I come home
I realize how much I miss my
Towering over the ponderosa pines,
The water tower, the old church steeple,
The high school football lights.
It may not be no New York CIty,
But to me and all my neighbors,
We still look up to those small town skyscrapers.
St. Louis and Frisco about as far as the crow flies.
I got tired of the red lights
I've been a few places, I've been there and back again.
Where you feel like paint drying on a wall,
Just a face in the crowd that′s moving at a crawl.
From city to city, if there′s one thing I've found
It′s how much I love my town
And all of them skyscrapers
Towering over the ponderosa pines,
The water tower, the old church steeple,
The high school football lights.
It may not be no New York City,
But to me and all my neighbors,
We still look up to those small town skyscrapers.
Skyscrapers, towering over the ponderosa pines,
The water tower, the old church steeple,
The high school football lights.
No it may not be no New York City,
But to me and all my neighbors,
We still look up to those small town skyscrapers
