SZA biography

Solana Imani Rowe, popularly known as SZA is a very popular US-based singer and song writer. Her birthplace is St Louis, Missouri and later, her family shifted to Maplewood, New Jersey.


SZA rose to prominence with her first studio album called Ctrl and this album comprised of hit singles such as The Weekend and Love Galore. She launched her first EP See SZA Run in 2012. The title of her second EP is S and it was released in April 2013. In the same year, she went to onto an agreement with the hip hop record label called Top Dawg Entertainment and this association resulted in the release of her third EP Z.


Teen Spirit a single released by SZA was a big hit in 2013. Solana also appeared in a wide range of albums released by several artists in 2014. Child’s Play was another single released by this artist in the same year. SZA’s first album was launched in 2017 and it was named after her first studio album Ctrl. It was a phenomenal success and also won critical acclaim form leading musical critics.


In the US Billboard top 200, her first album Ctrl ranked number three and RIIA certified it as platinum. She is very active in 2018 and featured on the song All the Stars, released by Black Panther.


When it comes to the awards and honors that SZA received, NAACP Image Award’ is the most prominent one. It was given for the best new artist in 2018. She also won the Soul Train Music Awards for the outstanding R&B Female artist.


SZA can be described as a neo-soul vocalist with and her music blends several alternative R&B components of cloud rap, witch house, minimalist R&B, hip hop and many more. Nostalgia is a prevalent theme in her music and she also incorporates themes such as abandonment and sexuality.
